 Collection Overview

The collection consists of 64 photographic prints and negatives primarily of composite pictures of the North Carolina General Assembly from 1935 to 1961. The group also contains photos of members of the North Carolina Supreme Court, Wake Forest College Senior Class of 1909, an unidentified Sunday School Class of children, July, 1904, interior views of the House Chamber (1941) and the Senate Chamber (1943), and an exterior view of the State Capitol at night (undated). Siddell Studios was a well established photographic firm in Raleigh, and for many years it was awarded the contract to photograph the legislators for their composite pictures. The composite prints are examples of the firm's work that it provided for the legislators. Most of the negatives are flexible film, but a few are of the glass plate variety.

 Arrangement

The collection is arranged chronologically and by topic. The General Assembly photos have been organized by the Senate and the House. The prints and the negatives have been placed in separate boxes. The prints are arranged by size (smallest to largest).
