An “Elocution Notebook” kept by Carrie Haynes, Chang-Eng's granddaughter. Carrie’s interest in poetry and song is evident in this notebook filled with notes on the art of speaking with inflection and page after page of poetry and proverbs clipped from various sources. Her collection includes a letter from her friend Lucy along with images of Lucy, Carrie, and Lucy's mother, and a postcard teaching sign language.
